UPDATE: Burger has suffered an injury to his left Achilles, the White Sox have announced.
The Chicago White Sox will likely be without their 2017 first round pick in Spring Training for a while.
During Monday’s Cactus League Game against the Oakland Athletics, third baseman Jake Burger had to leave the game after suffering a leg injury. Burger went down while running to first base after hitting a slow chopper and trying to beat it out.
He had to be carted off the field and didn’t put any weight on his leg. The Athletic’s James Fegan noted that Burger didn’t need a stretcher and his leg wasn’t immobilized when he left the field.

Prior to the injury, Burger just missed a home run by a few feet as he doubled in his first plate appearance.
