Chicago Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville has decided to go with the hot hand for Tuesday’s game four in Chicago.
Quenneville told the media on Monday that Scott Darling will get another start after turning in a 4-2 win on Sunday for the Blackhawks. Darling got the game three start after Corey Crawford struggled in game two. He made 35 saves on 37 shots Sunday, turning in another nice performance.
It was good enough to get him in net for Tuesday.
Quenneville remained true to his word when he said he would take the goalie situation on a day-by-day basis, as if Darling performed poorly Q would have almost certainly gone with Crawford. “Another solid game, really patient in the net,” said Quenneville on Monday when commenting on Darling’s play.
As for Crawford, he is trying to remain patient after the recent benching. But it’s not always easy, especially giving up 9 goals in 2 games. With the Blackhawks wanting to win and Crawford wanting to play it’s a tough spot for the goalie.
Crawford said he will remain positive and that the lockerroom has a nice feel to it with everything being positive.
“I’m trying to work hard, the only thing I can do now is be ready in case I have to go back in,” Crawford told reporters on Monday after practice.
The Blackhawks will host the Nashville Predators in game four Tuesday night at 8:30 p.m. CT.
