While NBA teams, fans, and analysts who were proven wrong are sitting back with woes, the Chicago Bulls are collecting what is considered the “scraps” of 2010’s free agency.
Chicago has inked Carlos Boozer, Ronnie Brewer, Kyle Korver, and Kurt “The Enforcer” Thomas thus far. Following the new addition of Thomas, many fans feel the Bulls are destined to become the team to slay the almighty Miami Heat.
Some of the leftover free agents, such as McGrady, realize the fact that they’re basically going to be mentors to younger players, or bench players. McGrady undoubtedly has the most skill to compliment his experience and mentorship, therefore making him one of the most valuable leftovers.
Gar Forman and company realize that Taj Gibson is a blossoming big man, and the signing of “The Enforcer” displays the veteran presence added for the larger men in the organization.
Since the core signings are already in place, Tracy McGrady should give Chicago a long, hard look.
McGrady is one of the few vets that realize it would benefit the game they worship to mentor younger players. Why is this special? Well, T-Mac wants to win. The Chicago Bulls wants to win. Derrick Rose wants to win.
Chicago’s roster is intended to look stellar if Tracy signs.
Point Guard: Derrick Rose, CJ Watson
Shooting Guard: Ronnie Brewer (starter), Kyle Korver, Tracy McGrady
Small Forward: Luol Deng (starter), James Johnson
Power Forward: Carlos Boozer (starter), Taj Gibson, Kurt Thomas
Center: Joakim Noah (starter), Omer Asik
If that doesn’t appeal to Tracy McGrady, then he can walk.
As previously stated, T-Mac wants to win. He will come in and mentor Derrick Rose, who is a big fan of McGrady, and feel comfortable as a sixth man. At 31, he has a few years left on the meter, if used properly.
McGrady not only brings a veteran presence, leadership, and mentorship, but adds even more size to a team with an average height of 6’7″. The former scoring champion stands at 6’8″, giving even more leverage to the 2009-10 number one rebounding squad.
Derrick Rose, the Bulls organization, and the city of Chicago should welcome Tracy McGrady, a man of great stature and personality, as well unmatched skill and mentality.
