It has been a bittersweet summer for the Chicago Bulls franchise. The Bulls flirted with the possibility of signing two of the best players in the NBA, only to end up 0-for-2. On the same day that Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh committed to Miami, the Chicago Bulls gained their long-sought low-post scorer, in Carlos Boozer. Then, only a day later […]
A question that fans around the globe are currently asking, that was considered irrelevant before the Summer of NBA Free…
As isolated reports begin to sprinkle in about the current assistant coach of the Boston Celtics likely coaching the Chicago Bulls next season, we all must ask ourselves the obvious question. Is Tom Thibodeau the right man to coach Rose, Noah, Deng, Hinrich, and perhaps another big-name player in 2010-11?
The answer to that question […]
It is another NBA Finals series in June. So we should not be too surprised to see that the L.A. Lakers and Boston Celtics will, yet again, be facing-off for the Larry O’Brien Trophy. These are the last two NBA Champions; the Lakers will be seeking their 16th Championship, while Celtics look to hang their 18th banner over the Boston Garden. These two teams have faced off for decades. First, it was Chamberlain and West taking on the Celtics of Cousy and Russell. Then, in the 1980’s, we saw a fierce rivalry between the teams led by the icons of Larry Bird and Magic Johnson.
Two years ago, in 2008, we saw a new […]
Let’s face it. Now that the season is over, we Bulls’ fans are overly eager to stare into the abyss that waits ahead of us. It is destined to be weeks of chaos, as the NBA gives itself a make-over this summer. This is definitely an exciting time in Chicago Bulls’ history, and there is a lot of optimism and confidence around the city. Starting with the 7-game war […]
The Cleveland Cavaliers have taken a big gamble by firing Mike Brown on Monday. Brown had served as head coach for the Cavaliers for 5 seasons with no NBA championships and 1 Finals appearance to show for it. This might be foreshadowing of other […]
Since the year 1991, the Chicago Bulls have won more championships than any other franchise in the NBA – winning a total of six (1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997, and 1998). The next closest teams are the Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs, at 4 apiece. The Bulls won these titles in dominant fashion. The NBA never saw such dominance since the 1960’s Boston Celtics, of Cousy and Russell, who won 10 of 11 during a stretch of time. But regardless, the 90’s Bulls undoubtedly featured the most dominant team in the history of the NBA. Bill Russell’s Celtics dominated in an era of fewer teams, prior to the ABA-NBA convergence, and before salary cap restrictions were placed on team owners. The Chicago Bulls run of 6 championships in 8 seasons separates them their stiff competition in the 1990’s. It separates them from the modern era teams, and the teams of the pre-shot-clock era. The Chicago Bulls’ dominance separates them, in a timeless fashion, from the rest of the NBA pack – as well as other professional sports franchises of any league (MLB, NFL, or NBA) of any single generation in American sports history.
There is obviously a key factor, or two, when detailing how the Bulls of 1991-98 were so successful. Chicago basketball featured two athletic horses, so to speak, in the form of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. The 6’7” Small-Forward, drafted from Central Arkansas in 1987, evolved into the game’s most versatile weapon, as well as its most selfless […]
Regardless about anything the media speculates over, there are many things hard to deny. Mike Brown has not been satisfactory in terms of running a fine-tuned offense. LeBron James does not get the ball in his hands enough when teams go up on Cleveland; instead Brown seems hell-bent on sticking with his regulation rotation of players… going 10-12 deep into his bench, despite when nearly all other post-season coaches have cut their rosters down to 8-10. The […]
