In Vinny Del Negro’s return to Chicago, Blake Griffin and the Clippers put up a nice battle in the United Center, and ended up holding off a frantic Bulls’ comeback to win by the score of 100-99.
Taj Gibson suffered a concussion after taking a knee to the head and left the game in the third period after playing only nine minutes. Blake Griffin was able to exploit the fact that there was no interior shot-blocker for the Bulls, and dominated with 29 points – and had some monster dunks to show for it.
However, Carlos Boozer added 25 points of his own, and point guard Derrick Rose kept the Bulls in the game with a huge performance – scoring 34 points with six rebounds, eight assists, and two blocks.
Rose, unfortunately, did miss the would-have-been tying free throw in the loss. But at least he helped to make the game interesting…
Hopefully, Taj Gibson will be back soon from the concussion inflicted upon him on Saturday night.
Chicago was dealt a bitter hand tonight, along with a tough pill to swallow. But they are a good team moving forward, winning seven of their last eight games, and should stay dominant in the division.
The Bulls still have a favorable schedule going forward, as they look ahead to the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night.
