Chicago Bears running back Tarik Cohen had a career day in the loss to the New York Giants, continuing his big season under new head coach Matt Nagy. In the loss, Cohen caught 12 passes for 156 yards including a long of 46. He also finished with 30 rushing yards and 16 punt return yards. Oh, did we mention he also threw the game-tying touchdown pass with no time left on the clock to send the game to overtime?
Cohen has proved to be a valuable weapon in this Bears’ offense and that should continue as the Bears enter this important four-game stretch to close out the season, holding the NFC North division lead. The running back is the ideal player for Nagy’s offense and despite splitting reps with Jordan Howard, he’s taken full advantage of that. The Bears enter Week 14 in prime position to make the playoffs and potentially win the NFC North. They hold a 1.5 game lead over the Minnesota Vikings going into the week with a Week 17 matchup still looming between the teams. Nagy has exploited mismatches with Cohen all season long and don’t expect that to change anytime soon moving forward.
Through 12 games, Cohen has 685 rushing yards and 659 receiving yards providing a nice balance in the rushing and receiving game. He’s been valuable for the Bears as well as for many fantasy owners. When betting online with fanduel, Cohen has to play a factor if you are taking the Bears.
With his game-changing speed, the running back is very dangerous in space and there’s not many linebackers that can cover him.
The former fourth-round pick was underestimated coming out of the draft but now he could be one of the best players in a special 2017 draft class for the Bears that also includes Mitchell Trubisky and Eddie Jackson. The class for Ryan Pace could go down as one that changes this franchise and delivers a winner to the Windy City.
The next task for Cohen will be a tough matchup with the 11-1 Los Angeles Rams.
Los Angeles enters the game with one of the best defenses in all of football including the front seven. Aaron Donald, Dante Fowler and Ndamukong Suh will present a big challenge for Mitchell Trubisky and Matt Nagy.
But if there’s one area the Bears can exploit, it’s the linebackers for the Rams. That’s where Cohen comes into play.
Look for Nagy got get Cohen in one-on-one matchups with the Rams’ linebackers and hopefully the running back can take advantage and have another big game for the Bears. If that happens, you have to like Chicago’s chances on Sunday night.
