The Hornets fly up to Chicago to face the 2-0 Bulls at the United Center tonight. New Orleans will be without #1 overall pick, Anthony Davis, after he suffered a concussion last night. Also missing the game, their quasi-all-star caliber shooting guard, Eric Gordon, who is out with a knee injury.
The Bulls started the game out of rhythm, and the Hornets capitalized early. With the Bulls down by 10, they turned to former Hornet, Marco Belinelli to exploit his old team. Marco did catch fire, scoring all of his 13 points in the first half and helping the Bulls obtain a 7 point lead at best. New Orleans made a last second three pointer to give them a two point lead going into halftime.
After a 64% shooting night in Cleveland last night, the Bulls hoped to carry some momentum into this game. However, their marksmanship was left on the road, as they shot a measly 33% tonight. Belinelli’s shot completely disappeared in the second half, along with the rest of the team. Kirk Hinrich couldn’t make a basket through a hula hoop. If you missed the game, consider yourself lucky.
Glimmer of light? Joakim Noah still had a solid game, scoring another double-double (11-11) and still commanded the paint. Aside from Belinelli’s collapse in the second half, the rest of the team still played well on defense.
The Bulls fall to the Hornets for their first loss of the season, 89-82.
Next game: Tuesday against the Orlando Magic.
