The Chicago Blackhawks made a move on Wednesday.
The team traded forwards Richard Panik and Laurent Dauphin to Arizona in exchange for forward Anthony Duclair and defenseman Adam Clendening.
After being a healthy scratch quite a few times the past couple weeks, it was clear that Panik needed a fresh start and so did the Blackhawks. With a $2.8 million cap hit over two years and Panik’s recent performances, Bowman must’ve had alarm bells going off in his head and acted fast.
As recently as last week Duclair informed the Arizona Coyotes that he wanted out and the Blackhawks were the perfect fit. The 22-year-old sniper brings speed and an elite shot with him to the Blackhawks.
Last year Duclair scored 5 goals and 10 assists and is a year removed from a 20 goal season. Arizona has been a terrible team over the past few seasons, I would expect that Duclair’s numbers improve playing with a team like the Blackhawks.
With this trade the Blackhawks save $1.6 million in cap space, potentially setting the Blackhawks up for another trade in the future.
The Blackhawks are also reunited with defenseman Adam Clendening. It looks like he’s going back to Rockford and won’t be part of the Blackhawks anytime soon, it’s also a possibility that he could be traded quickly.
