With the Chicago Bears’ latest injury report released on Friday afternoon, three players are officially done for the 2024-25 campaign by being ruled out for Sunday’s matchup in Green Bay.
Teven Jenkins, Travis Homer, and Elijah Hicks will not suit up for the Chicago Bears on Sunday
Jenkins, Homer, and Hicks are the three notable names on the injury report that will not play this week. Each has missed a few games this season, but will not get the chance to put on the pads one more time with the calendar turning to 2025.
A second-round pick of the team in 2021, Jenkins is unable to go against the Packers due to a calf issue. The 26-year-old finished his 2024-25 season with an overall PFF grade of 75.4, which ranks 16th out of 130 eligible guards. His run and pass-blocking grades on PFF were nearly equal, but he just had a tough time staying on the field again this season.
Homer is out with a hamstring injury. The second-year Chicago Bear has served primarily on special teams, having only six carries for 23 yards on the year. Prior to his time in the Windy City, the running back was a member of the Seattle Seahawks organization.
As for Hicks, it’s a foot/ankle injury that is keeping him off the field this week. A seventh-round pick out of Cal in 2022, Hicks got some time to start this year after Jaquan Brisker began to have concussion problems. The 25-year-old ends the season with 24 solo tackles and two pass breakups.
The Chicago Bears might not have Teven Jenkins or Travis Homer back next season
The future for Jenkins and Homer with the Chicago Bears is unclear after this week. There have been rumblings over the past couple of weeks regarding Jenkins not being a part of the front office’s plans for the 2025-26 league year. If this is the case, the team will be in need of three new offensive linemen this offseason.
Similar to Jenkins, Homer’s deal is up after the year and his tenure in Chicago hasn’t necessarily been a successful one. Even though special teams are Homer’s bread and butter, he was paid over four million dollars over the last two seasons by the Chicago Bears front office. Many believe this was an overpay from Ryan Poles, and it can be another signing used against him when weighing the future of the general manager this offseason.
