A new era is underway on the South Side of Chicago.
The Chicago White Sox have called up top prospect, Tim Anderson, from Triple A Charlotte and have designated Jimmy Rollins for assignment. Barstool Sports Chicago’s White Sox Dave first broke the story:

Rollins’ career is likely done in baseball as the White Sox signed him to a minor league-deal earlier this spring. Rollins was batting .221 with a .295 OBP, 2 home runs, 8 RBI and 5 steals. Lately shortstop Tyler Saladino has been getting the majority of time at shortstop thanks to Rollins’s inability to produce at the plate.
Anderson has been the White Sox top prospect since he was drafted in 2013 thanks to his offensive skill-set. MLB.com had this to say about him:
“Though the White Sox have moved him quickly and he’s extremely aggressive at the plate, Anderson’s ability to barrel balls has allowed him to hit .301 through his first three pro seasons. His plus-plus speed makes him a huge base stealing threat, but he won’t be able to maximize it or hit near the top of a batting order unless he improves his pitch recognition and plate discipline. With his bat speed and wiry strength, he could produce 15 homers per season.”
Tim Anderson hit .312 in 125 games last year at Double A Birmingham and .304 in 55 games in Charlotte this past season.
