Round 2: OT Kingsley Suamataia / BYU / 6’6-325 LBS
This may be wishful thinking, as Suamataia is one of the top ranked tackles in the draft, but he could definitely slip. The tackle from BYU is just a large human, standing at 6’6 weighing in at about 330 pounds. With all of the offensive line problems this may plague the Chicago Bears again this year, a tackle could be selected here.
We still have no idea how this new line will mesh. Hopefully it does soundly, and they can use this selection on another position of need, but as of right now another tackle would be ideal with one of these early picks. Especially one like Suamataia, who excels as a pass blocker.
His agility and movement combined with his size is quite unique for an offensive tackle, which makes Suamataia such an intriguing prospect. His footwork is very, very good and could become even better after another year at BYU. He’s more of a right tackle and projected to be one in the NFL, as last year he only gave up two QB hits and zero sacks.
He needs to sharpen up his game, as most do at this level, but has the potential to be a very good tackle at the next level. Hoping he’s here in the second-round next year so Poles can take a chance on him.
