2. Chicago Bears Linebacker Roquan Smith
Roquan Smith will be the undisputed leader of the Bears’ defense this season. With Khalil Mack, Akiem Hicks, and likely Robert Quinn off the roster this year, the defense will run through the fifth-year veteran Smith.
Smith will have a lot on his plate in 2022, as the Bears are transitioning to the 4-3 scheme from the 3-4 scheme. This transition is a lot harder for Smith since as a linebacker, he’ll have to lead that group to the point of attack with a Bears defensive line unit that is one of the NFL’s worst. If Smith can be a dominant force for the Bears this season, the defense’s transition will be a lot smoother.
