In the midst of a mediocre season, the Chicago Bulls have two stars that were snubbed for this year’s NBA All-Star team.
The Chicago Bulls have two stars that should have figured to get votes for this year’s NBA All-Star team, but for some reason or another both Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic were left off this year’s ballot.
Playing like All-Stars
The 18-20 Chicago Bulls who currently are sitting tenth in the Eastern Conference standings and are set to go against the Sacramento Kings in a match up that should be an interesting one to watch, have two stars that are standing out in what is an average season. After leading the Bulls to a victory over the Washington Wizards, guard Zach LaVine played in 33 minutes going 14-21 with 33 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assist, and shooting .429% from behind the arc.
Zach LaVine and his fellow star on the Bulls Nikola Vucevic, who is also having a great season with averaging 20.3 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.3 assist, and shooting 55.8% from the field and 43.3% from three, and both were snubs for these years NBA All-Star team.
LaVine so far this season has shown he can be trusted to stay on the court with playing in 33 of a possibly 38 games after only playing in 25 games for the Bulls last season. With averaging 23.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.4 assist, and shooting 51.8% from the field and 44.4% from three which is good enough for eighth best in the NBA. Zach LaVine extended his 30+ point streak to five straight games with the win against the Wizards and he will look to continue that streak against the Sacramento Kings.
Billy Donovan left in shock
With two of his stars being left off the ballot, Chicago Bulls Head Coach Billy Donovan was left in shock given how great both LaVine and Vucevic have been playing. In comments made to Joe Crowley of the Chicago Sun Times Donovan made his feelings clear by saying:
“You get a chance to see those guys play every night and there’s no question in my mind, just based on what these guys have performed through … they have performed at an All-Star level. Both of those two have. I think the stats will back that up.”
Billy Donovan is absolutely right in his assessment that both Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic are more than deserving to make the team how great they’ve both been. With both being subject to trade rumors and possibly not being on the Bulls that much longer it would’ve been nice to see both in the consideration to be All-Stars as Chicago Bulls.
