Addison Russell was activated off of the disabled list on Saturday afternoon, joining his teammates in a key series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Russell wasn’t in the starting lineup for Saturday’s game but he was available off the bench to pinch hit.
And that’s exactly what he did.
Russell was called upon to pinch hit in the eighth inning with the Cubs up 3-1 over the Cardinals. In his first at-bat back, Russell hit a no-doubter into the bleachers to give the Cubs a 4-1lead.
