The Chicago Cubs entered Monday’s home game against the Miami Marlins winners of seven-straight games and fresh off a sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals. A big reason for the Cubs’ recent success has been their hitting, as they have been on a tear of late including homering in 11-straight games.
On Monday, the Cubs made it 12-straight games with a home run and some history was also made.
Anthony Rizzo got the Cubs on the board in the bottom of the first with a two-run homer which was No. 200 in his career.
Take a look at Rizzo’s blast below:
The home run was the ninth on the season for Rizzo and moved him into sole possession of ninth place on the Cubs all-time list.
All but one of the 200 home runs have come with the Cubs as he hit his first in San Diego.
