It was a heck of a way to start a big three-game series for the Chicago Cubs in Milwaukee.
With first place on the line in the NL Central, the Cubs were able to take game one of the series against the Milwaukee Brewers 7-2 in extra innings.
After trailing 1-0 in the game, the Cubs were able to tie the game in the fifth inning on an Albert Almora Jr. single. A Brewers home run gave them the lead right back at 2-1, before the Cubs were able to tie it once again in the eighth inning on a single from Jason Heyward. Neither team was able to score in the tenth inning, setting up the scene for Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo.
The slugger stepped to the plate to lead off the top of the tenth and drilled the game-winning home run to deep right field, giving the Cubs a 3-2 lead.

Rizzo’s home run was the 11th on the season for the first baseman and comes after he hit a ball into the fourth deck which was just foul in the eighth inning. With the win, the Cubs are now a half game up on the Brewers for first place in the NL Central.
Chicago added four more runs in the top of the tenth on singles from Ben Zobrist and Almora Jr. as well as a double by Jason Heyward that scored two more runs.
The two teams will play game two of the series on Tuesday night.
