Chicago’s Chance the Rapper has risen to fame over the last few years but it hasn’t stopped him from giving back to his hometown.
Chance has made numerous efforts over the years to give back to the city of Chicago. The latest one came Monday night.
During his monthly Open Mike night, Chance gifted everyone who participated a pair of brand new Air Jordan 11s. He teamed up with Jordan Brand to hand out 300 unreleased pairs.
Check out a video of the event:

Chance posted this tweet following the event, thanking everyone for their participation.
On the anniversary of the passing of my mentor Brother Mike, @OpenMikeChicago had one of it’s best nights yet. Thanks to @Korporate00 for speaking and thanks to @Jumpman23 for bringing 300 pair of unreleased 11s for the young creatives. Until next year… POWER TO THE PEOPLE…

The Open Mike night is put on monthly as a part of Social Works, which is Chance’s Youth Empowerment Charity. So far there have been 25 Open Mikes with over 5,800 total attendance.
The charity hosts several events each year and aims to instill a shared sense of community ownership and involvement. The Open Mike night is named after Chicago poet Brother Mike, who passed away three years ago.
Chance once again delivers for the city of Chicago. Bravo.
