Thursday’s game got off to a rough start for the Chicago Cubs.
Starter Jon Lester couldn’t get out of the second inning, giving up 7 earned runs. He was removed and the Cubs announced he was dealing with left lat tightness.
The Cubs fell behind 9-0 but have begun chipping away at that Reds lead. In the fourth inning they did some serious damage.
Kris Bryant led off the inning with a home run, then Anthony Rizzo doubled down the third base line. That’s where the fun started.
Catcher Alex Avila hit a two-run homer which started the back-to-back-to-back streak:

It’s the first time the Cubs have gone back-to-back-to-back since 2004 when Derrek Lee, Sammy Sosa and Michael Barrett doing it.
Kyle Schwarber led off the fifth inning with a home run and Rizzo’s double brought in Bryant as the Cubs have come back to tie the game at 9.
