The Chicago Cubs were outmatched by Washington Nationals’ starting pitcher Max Scherzer for 7 innings on Sunday night. But when the team trailed 3-0 and was down to their final strike in the ninth inning, pinch-hitter David Bote sent Wrigley Field into a frenzy.
With the bases loaded and two outs, Bote faced a 2-2 count from Ryan Madson and sent a pitch to the center field bleachers helping the Cubs walk-off with a 4-3 win on Sunday night.
Watch as Bote hits the grand slam and Wrigley Field erupts:
I've seen a lot of Cubs endings through the years, but that's a stunner. The rising star of David Bote just went up a ton with a walkoff Grand Slam. Incredible moment. pic.twitter.com/SpdOHo6NvF

With the win, the Cubs extend their lead to three games over the Milwaukee Brewers ahead of the team’s two-game series this week at Wrigley Field.
