It looked like the Chicago Cubs were headed for another disappointing loss at Wrigley Field on Wednesday night and in were in serious danger of losing their second-straight to the Philadelphia Phillies.
After Dylan Cozans hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth to give the Phillies a 5-3 lead, the Cubs were down to just three outs. But then they rallied in the bottom half of the inning.
Kyle Schwarber drew a leadoff walk, then Albert Almora Jr. became the tying run when he got on base with one out in the inning. After Ian Happ walked to load the bases, Ben Zobrist grounded into a force play at the plate putting the Cubs down to their final out.
That’s when Jason Heyward stepped up to the dish.
With two strikes on him, Heyward launched a grand slam into the right center field bleachers as Wrigley erupted in cheers and the Cubs won 7-5. Check it out below:

The grand slam was the first walk-off home run in Heyward’s career and he’s been hitting well in bases-loaded situations this year. Heyward is now 4-for-9 with 1 HR and 14 RBI’s with the bases loaded in 2018.
The Cubs and Phillies will play the rubber match of this three-game series on Thursday afternoon at Wrigley Field.
