Things got a little heated at Wrigley Field on Friday afternoon.
With the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals in the middle of a pennant race in the NL Central, the two teams were tied at 1 in the fifth inning.
In the top of the fifth inning with two outs, pitcher John Lackey threw what appeared to be strike three to batter Carlos Martinez right down the middle. But home plate umpire Jordan Baker had other ideas as he called it a ball.
Check out the Gamecast on the pitch (No. 5):
Pitch 5 should have been strike 3, inning over. Missed call. Pitch 6 was an RBI single. Horrible. #Cubs pic.twitter.com/Jz2qYynyPo

After it was ruled a ball, Martinez singled on the very next pitch to give the Cardinals a 2-1 lead and thats when it got wild.
While backing up the play behind home plate, Lackey started screaming at Baker for the missed call. He was ejected mid-play:

Catcher Willson Contreras was also tossed after slamming his mask on the ground as it hit Baker.
The big worry comes in the form of a possible Contreras suspension. The Cubs have to hope it will just be a hefty fine and their catcher won’t have to miss any games
