It’s safe to say the Chicago Cubs won the trade with the Kansas City Royals in the offseason after receiving Wade Davis for Jorge Soler.
In just his first season with the Cubs, Davis is already entering the franchise record books. With his save on Tuesday night to give the Cubs a 4-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates, Davis set a new franchise record for most consecutive saves with 27.
Davis broke the previous mark of 26 consecutive saves set by Ryan Dempster. Here’s Davis breaking the record to get the third out and the Cubs a second-consecutive win:

Davis has yet to blow a save this season, converting on all 26.
The win moves the Cubs lead in the NL Central to 3.5 games over the Milwaukee Brewers and 5 over the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Pirates have faded back, dropping to 9 games back. Chicago will look for the sweep when they host the Pirates on Wednesday night.
