Oh my, I have a head ache. One day after the Sox lost at home 13-0 to the Marlins they stormed back into Cleveland to beat the Tribe 7-2. If there has ever been a time where a team just felt like getting runs whenever they wanted, thsi would be the time. 8 Friday, 4 Saturday, 0 Sunday and now 7 Monday. Wow.
It all started with back to back singles in the first. Alex Rios knocked in the first run as he grounded into a fielders choice. Kotsay added to the fun as he had an RBI double(WTK? also known as what the Kotsay from now on). Andrew Jones walked and then the guy we love to hate Mark Teahen stepped to the plate and provided a 2 RBI double. I know its madness. Kotsay and Teahen with doubles in the same inning? Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Score was 4-0 after 1.
In the 4th it was not the bats that helped the Sox, it was bad pitching as the wild pitch by Mastterson scored Gordon Beckham to make it 5-0. The Tribe got 2 back in the bottom of the inning on the Laporta ground out and Marson single.
In the 7th Teahen picked up his 3rd RBI of the night as he singled to shallow center to score Paulie.
In the top of the 9th Alex Rios hit a solo shot to make it 7-2. Rios also picked up his 14th stolen base of the season. Fantasy owners, if I could offer advice, go get Rios. Alex is flying under the radar and would be a great 3rd or 4th OF on any team.
On the other side, Danks was excellent as he went 5 innings giving up 6 hits and only 2 runs. His high pitched count, especially in the 4th killed his arm and he needed the bullpen to do the rest. Santos, Thornton, Putz and Jenks all combined for 4 innings, 1 hit, and 0 runs.
The Sox cranked out 14 hits and only 1 run came on a HR, is this the start of Ozzie small ball? Stay tuned………………
