Chris Sale’s impressive June campaign has earned him the AL Pitcher of the Month award announced on Thursday by Major League Baseball.
Sale is in one of the best strikeout stretches in baseball history as the 26-year-old left-hander has struck out at least 10 batters in his last eight starts. The only other pitcher to do so? Pedro Martinez. Sale finished the month of June with a 2-2 record with a 1.83 ERA and 75 strikeouts.

It really wasn’t a surprise when the MLB announced the award for Sale who has been a lone bright spot on a struggling White Sox team. Even with rumors flaring of possible trades (not going to happen), Sale was dominant in June. It’s also the first time a White Sox pitcher has won the award in over three years.
If Sale keeps it up, we likely will see him win the award for July as well.
