Figures that the one time this week I wasn’t at the computer and able to post some rumors, the rumors came from all over. The White Sox have been rather quiet publicly the past day or two which usually means something is coming.
The Adam Dunn rumors are back in high gear with a number of teams trying to get the left handed slugger. The White Sox have been the team hottest after him from the start, but according to Buster Olney they no longer think they are in the running. Of course that means that Kenny Williams will have a deal in place within the hour.
The NY Post thinks the Rays are the current favorites for Dunn the problem is that Dunn does not want to DH. That Rays lineup would be really extra scary with Dunn in it.
Of course this post won’t be complete without coming full circle, Jon Heyman reports the White Sox are still in on Dunn and that 3-way deal with the D-Backs involving Edwin Jackson is still being talked about. Who says the trade deadline isn’t fun.
If Dunn is going to be a child about being a DH or not than that changes my mind on him a little, though I think this is more posturing on his part. Once he gets to an AL team he seems like a nice enough guy to accept his role. Since he would only be playing DH for two months, and first base is still an option on some days, I’m sure all would calm down quickly.
