Chicago White Sox prospect Eloy Jimenez had a late start to the 2018 Minor League baseball season after suffering an injury that kept him out a few weeks. But the outfielder hasn’t wasted any time producing for the Birmingham Barons.
Despite missing the first 11 games of the Southern League season, Jimenez has started to rake and is now tied for the league lead with 6 home runs. He’s starting to produce big numbers and has a slash line of .319/.347/.652 with a .999 OPS. The prospect has also driven in 19 runs in 69 plate appearances this season.

The No. 4 overall prospect in baseball continued his hot play on Sunday going 2-for-3 while hitting his sixth homer of the season. He now has multiple hits in six-straight games for the Barons.
That came a day after Jimenez had three hits and was a triple shy of the cycle.
It’s only been 17 games, but Jimenez has put himself on the fast-track to get promoted to Triple-A Charlotte. That’s the final step before hitting the big leagues and at this rate we could see Jimenez at the big league level later this Summer.
Jimenez was the big piece the White Sox got in return in that Jose Quintana trade with the Chicago Cubs last July. He’s a key part of the White Sox rebuilding plan and could end up panning out as their best prospect in this Rick Hahn era.
If Jimenez continues to rake like this, don’t be surprised to see him heading to Charlotte very soon.
