The Chicago White Sox made a pair of moves on Thursday as they have signed catcher Geovany Soto and pitcher Jesse Crain to minor-league deals.
Crain returns to the White Sox after being traded to the Tampa Bay Rays in 2013. Crain hasn’t pitched since the trade after posting a 0.74 ERA in 37 innings in 2013. He didn’t pitch for Astros last season after signing a 1-year-deal.
Soto returns to Chicago as a non-roster invitee to Spring Training after spending the majority of his career with the Cubs. In eight seasons with the Cubs, Soto hit .252 with 77 home runs and provided solid defense behind the plate. He was traded to the Texas Rangers in 2012 before signing with the Oakland A’s last year.
