Riding an incredible four game losing streak and having a rather unimpressive 2-8 record in their last ten games the White Sox head to Detroit to take on the first place Detroit Tigers for the first time this year.
The Tigers currently sit in first place, three and a half games above the Cleveland Indians. The White Sox are in last, fourteen games out of the division lead and a wild card spot. This series is a tale of two teams, one that is currently and still heading for a decade of divisional dominance and one that is heading down the road to a potential decade long rebuild.
An example of how far the divide is between these two rival is that the Tigers best hitter, Miguel Cabrera is hitting .364 with twenty-eight home runs and ninety RBI and it isn’t even the All-Star break. On the other hand, Alexei Ramirez owns the best average on the team at a meager .277. To put that in prospective, the Tigers sixth best hitter, Prince Fielder is hitting .264, but that isn’t bad because in comparison to Ramirez’s single home run, Fielder has fifteen.
However, fans of Chicago aren’t really too fond of any team from Detroit. Thus, the Sox should be prepared to battle the Tigers as best they can. All time, the Sox are 1022-1033 against the Tigers, and last year the boys in black were dominated by Detroit, especially on the road (1-8). Hopefully, pride in the city will give the players something to play for as well as something for the fans to watch. If not, the #RoadtoRodon will continue.
