There’s nothing better than a back & forth hockey game and the IceHogs fans were treated to one last night in Rockford. Every time the IceHogs scored, the Wild answered back. It all came down to a shootout and Rockford just could not get around Iowa’s Leland Irving.
Rockford’s goalie, Mark Visentin, went down with a possible right leg injury late in the 1st period and Michael Leighton had to step in for the remainder of the game. So, the question becomes…who backs up the back-up goalie during a game when you have put your back-up in the game due to injury? Last month, the IceHogs had a local high school goalie step-in and help for team practice, when Leighton was briefly out for a upper body injury. Today, the IceHogs released a press statement saying that they have recalled Mac Carruth from the Indy Fuel.
It’s a back-to-back home stand against the Wild and the IceHogs host the Wild again tonight at the BMO Harris Bank Center. Puck drops at 7pm.
