It’s no secret the Chicago Bulls are entering another very important year in their rebuild as they hope to get the franchise back to their winning ways. Last season, Chicago finished at 27-55 and had the 7th overall pick after winning a coin toss against the Sacramento Kings. The Kings would end up getting a Top 3 pick by losing that coin toss.
With the selection, Chicago took Wendell Carter out of Duke giving them a young talent in the post. The hope is that the Bulls can pair Carter and forward Lauri Markkanen together for years to come.
Chicago has a lot of young talent on this team, acquiring the rights of Markkanen, plus point guard Kris Dunn and guard Zach LaVine during a Draft-day trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2017. John Paxson has built his core with youth and now the developmental stages really begin.
The upcoming 2018-19 season will be based on how well Markkanen, LaVine and Dunn develop while getting Carter accustomed to the NBA. They also added Chicago native Jabari Parker as a scoring option off the bench.
There’s going to be some frustrating moments and the Bulls really aren’t expected to compete for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. But they do have a shot at sneaking into the NBA Playoffs as an eight seed. The Eastern Conference got weaker this offseason with LeBron James going to the Los Angeles Lakers, opening up an opportunity for other teams.
As we are just under 25 days until the start of the season, odds makers who have revealed NBA betting lines and it’s interesting to see where the Bulls stand. The team’s projected win total is at 30.5 and their odds to win the NBA Finals is at +30000.
That puts them ahead of a few Eastern Conference teams including the Atlanta Hawks, New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Brooklyn Nets, and Orlando Magic.
Chicago will have a tough start to the season, opening up on the road against the Philadelphia 76ers which are among the favorites in the NBA’s Eastern Conference and then will host the Detroit Pistons in their home opener.
A good start will be key for the Chicago Bulls to have any shot at the Playoffs this upcoming season.
