The Chicago Cubs entered Wednesday’s rubber game against the San Francisco Giants 1.5 games up in the NL Central.
They managed just one run against starter Madison Bumgarner and watched the Giants break a 1-1 tie in the seventh inning. But the biggest part of the game may have come in the eighth.
Willson Contreras hit a ground ball for the third out of the inning and came up holding his hamstring running down the line. Contreras went to the ground and needed help leaving the field.

The Cubs have yet to provide an update on his status but it didn’t look good. Contreras has by far been the Cubs best player in the second half of the season and him missing any time would be a big hit to the Cubs chances.
