The Chicago Wolves beat the IceHogs last night in Rockford, 4-1. Wolves’ netminder, Jordan Binnington, appeared to be a veritable wall, stopping 32 out of 33 shots the IceHogs pelted him with. The one lone goal for Rockford was scored by Mark McNeill when Binnington was layed out flat on his belly to the right of the goal. McNeill was able to tap the puck in easily from behind Binnington’s right skate. All 3 Stars of the Game rightly went to Chicago players. Binnington, Brad Hunt and Wade Megan were #’s 1, 2, 3 respectively.
Something just seems to be missing within the IceHogs. Their games of late are just lackluster and disjointed. Normally, when the IceHogs and Wolves match up, you can be assured of fireworks at some point in the game. Other than a few minor growls & scrums, there was a total of 2 penalties called the entire game. The IceHogs currently are in last place in the AHL Central Division.
As of this posting, Rockford will be losing one of their goalies with a recall to the Chicago Blackhawks. Only stands to reason it should be Johansson, but an official announcement has not been made yet by the Blackhawks. In the meantime, the IceHogs have recalled Jake Hildebrand from the Indy Fuel.
Tonight is the IceHogs’ Annual Teddy Bear Toss. Rockford will be playing against the Grand Rapid Griffins. Puck drops at 7pm. Bear Toss is scheduled when the IceHogs score their first goal.
