The Chicago Bulls are 19-25 ahead of their matchup on Thursday night against the Golden State Warriors. Like the previous two seasons, Chicago is good enough to make the play-in tournament but nowhere near good enough to be a contender in the Eastern Conference.
Chicago has been tardy in blowing up their latest core. The Bulls traded DeMar DeRozan in July, but the team still has Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic occupying the roster.
Rival execs are interested in Chicago Bulls’ Zach LaVine
The Bulls are expected to look for trade partners before the Feb. 6 deadline. Per ESPN’s Shams Charania, rival executives are praising Zach LaVine for his play this season, and the team is fielding calls for the 29-year-old guard and Vucevic.
“Rival executives have applauded a rejuvenated season from LaVine, who, in his 11th season, is shooting a career high overall (51.4%) and on 3s (45%) while averaging 24 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists,” Charania wrote. “LaVine has impressed the Bulls with his professionalism and leadership, a year after both sides scanned the market for trade opportunities.”
One question to ponder: Do these rival executives like, or trust, LaVine enough to pay him?
The Warriors are apparently interested in Vucevic.
“Vucevic, meanwhile, has also had a strong campaign, averaging 20.3 points, 10.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists,” Charania wrote. “The Warriors are among teams expressing interest in the 6-foot-10 center, sources said. At 34, Vucevic has shown he can age gracefully; he is shooting 55.4% from the field and 41.1% from 3 this season.”

The Bulls have been picky about what compensation they will take for LaVine and Vucevic. But time isn’t on Chicago’s side.
