On Sunday, the Chicago Bulls dropped another game, losing 127-119 to the Detroit Pistons in front of 20,062 fans at Little Caesars Arena. The defeat knocked the Bulls to 21-29–10th place in the Eastern Conference.
Hours later, the Bulls would agree to a trade that will blow up the 2024-25 core.

At 26, Huerter has seven years of experience in the league. Huerter was the No. 19 pick in the 2018 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks. The Maryland standout made the NBA All-Rookie Team in 2019.
Huerter is averaging 7.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game this season. He is averaging 11.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game for his career.
LaVine was the No. 13 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Bulls traded for LaVine in June of 2017.
LaVine teams up with DeMar DeRozan
Per Charania, in addition to Huerter, the Bulls will receive Zach Collins, Tre Jones, and their own pick from the Spurs for 2025.
“Full trade: Spurs: De’Aaron Fox, Jordan McLaughlin Kings: Zach LaVine, Sidy Cissoko, three first round picks (2025 CHA, 2027 SAS, 2031 MIN), three second round picks (2025 CHI, 2028 DEN, 2028 own back) Bulls: Zach Collins, Tre Jones, Kevin Huerter, their own 2025 pick via SAS,” Charania posted.

LaVine will join his ex-Bulls teammate, DeMar DeRozan in Sacramento. The Bulls traded DeRozan to the Kings in July. The Kings are 24-24 in the Western Conference, which puts them in 10th place.
The Kings now have a duo the Bulls have needed to shed for a few years.
