White Sox 6, Cubs 0
Chicago — The Crosstown Classic moved continued on the South Side today, but was over quickly. Carlos Zambrano (3-6) lasted just one inning and allowed four runs. He was pulled by Lou Pinella and apparently sent home according to ESPN after erupting in the dugout after the first. On the other side of the diamond Jake Peavy (7-5) dominated again tossing 7 scoreless innings, allowing just 3 hits, and striking out 9.
The Cubs have now scored just 5 runs in their last 4 games, while the White Sox continue to climb the AL Central standings. The Sox are now only 2 back of the Minnesota Twins and have won 10 straight. The Sox’s last loss came against the Cubs June 13th at Wrigley.
The Cubs bats never came out, while the Sox showed up early including a three run home run in the first by Carlos Quentin his 12th of the year. Gordon Beckham added one in the fifth off Zambrano’s replacement Tom Gorzelanny. It was just Beckham’s 2nd on the season. Aramis Ramirez (thumb) rejoined the Cubs after a stint on the DL and went 0-3 with a walk and 2 strikeouts.
